Breast is the tissue overlying the chest muscle, and in women, breasts are made of specialized, glandular tissue which produces milk, as well as fatty tissue. The amount of this fat determines the size of the breasts.
Breasts are divided into 15-20 sections called the lobes, each of them with its smaller structures called lobules, where the milk is produced. From the lobules, the milk goes through a network of small tubes called ducts, which come together into larger ducts, and exit the skin through the nipple. The dark skin around the nipple is called areola.
The connective tissue and the ligaments support the breasts and give its shape, and the nerves provide sensation. Breasts are also consisted of lymph vessels and nodes, as well as blood vessels.
