We have all heard somewhere that buying all those cosmetic products is not good for us, and especially the deodorants.

But, although we like to gamble with that a lot, here’s what you should watch out for, especially the men!

Every single man has at least once tried Axe. Although is not quite the smell from the commercials, it has also loads of endocrine disruptors. That means that it contains chemicals that mimic human hormone function, which confuses the body.

Those endocrine disruptors have effects on male and female reproduction, breast and prostate cancer, thyroid, metabolism, obesity, cardiovascular endocrinology.

The worse ingredients in Axe are the aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohyhdrex gly, cocamidopropyl betaine, PPG-14 Bustyl Ether and BHT.

The first one is the active ingredient in Axe, and using this deodorant for a longer period can cause nerve damage, kidney damage, Alzheimer’s and breast cancer.

The second one makes the product foamy. Unfortunately, this ingredient interacts with other chemicals in cosmetics and food to produce nitrosamines, which are highly carcinogenic.

The third, is a paraben which has the purpose to produce a less clingy environment, and cancer.

BHT is what gives Axe the smell it has, because that is an antimicrobial preservative. But, once inside your body, this chemical can cause organ damage, cancer and reproductive toxicity.

Here are some deodorants that you can feel free to use without any worries:

  • Clark’s Zinc Deo
  • Green Tidings Deodorant
  • Lafes Twist-Stick Deodorant
